We in Australia have been suffering from ridiculously and unjustifiably high prices for Petrol for the past 10 years. We recently hit 170 cents for one litre of fuel. If Americans think they have it bad they need to go abroad, and for those that appear dumfounded as to why it is so expensive, the answer is simple. Don't intervene in the middle east. That is why they are so high.
@apresesco actually, oil prices are set worldwide, through commodities markets. The differences between nations come primarily through differences in taxation and supply of refineries.
@hamersmashdface1 What you said here is 80 % true, We will not run out of oil though for over 100 years, BUT, oil will become more and more difficult to access and the cost of doing so will only go higher, with that cost, being passed on to the consumer. Peak oil, is not running out, it is when it reaches peak and then goes into decline, perhaps after a plateau.

Ridiculously cheap. Of course, the U.S. steals from other countries through wars and therefore pays so cheap oil.
