Dilla called the album "Donuts" for various reasons. One was making them short and sweet a.k.a Donuts are sweet and short enough to eat however way you like to hear them. It has political meaning any Emcee can put thought into, but more worth listening to alone which makes it highly valuable and authentic within music. He placed messages to his family with samples and not so vicariously. He was happy how he left it I know. He did this on his death bed literally I'm proud to listen to J. Dilla.
