This is a slightly scaled down version of an automatic transmission in the June-Sept 1976 Meccano engineer publication made by Robin Schoolar. It uses both input speed and load to decide which gear to use.
From the motor to the output shaft 1st is 36:1, 2nd 27:1 and 3rd 18:1.

  • I love you model builders. I suppose your wives resent all of the time that you devote to these "toys", but I love them. Thanks for posting your creation. Wonderful.

  • @KevinByrne2 On the wife front there are only three solutions I've seen within our Meccano club, 1). A subservient wife, 2). A wife interested in Meccano (rare), 3). No wife.

  • Tricky. This is not a model that you can buy from a shop as such. The parts can be bought at the meccanoman com website. The magazine to build it may be available on ebay. However this is going to set you back quite a bit, the brass parts are expensive.
