  • When you said q45 i assumed u meant VQ45, not VH45. I'm not incredibly sure on the upgrade potential of the VH45 as I haven't researched it much, thought I have seen some people who have gone the TT route. I do know that it's a stout engine I do know that the VK56 has been put in platforms exceeding 600hp, turboed I believe.

  • hey, i like your truck. can the titan v8 [aka the q45 v8] be installed drop in to your frontier?

  • Well the titan V8 is not the q45 its the VK56DE...and it can be dropped in. There's at least one guy whos in the middle of the VK swap into a Frontier that I know of, and they've already put the VK into an Xterra. For a 4X4 it's a little bit more involved then a simple engine swap though.

  • Wth I didn't know it had up to 220. Ima look at ours.

  • what you said about the engine being different and being vq is all wrong my friend

    google this or search wikipedia:

    Nissan_VK_engine

the truck engine is bored and stroked ver.

but, the cool thing that i just learned is that they have a special race car version so there is plent of potential, with different heads, for massssssive torque[by extension horsepower] at high RPM ........

anyway, if I could, i would go with the less bore less stroke and twin turbo it, or go with 56 and not turbo it. :-)

  • Well the 45 has less aftermarket support then the 56 and I have no idea if the motor mounts in the Frontier would even work with a 45, but I know they work with a 56. The 45 is a VQ, the 56 is a VK so they are different engines...the main similarity is the fact theyre both V8's. I have absolutely no idea what youre talking about in reagards to the whole 4X4/motor mount issue...the motor mounts are the same reagardless. The Titan front diff however is different and stronger then the Frontier's

  • i wish i could edit my comments to make them more clear,, i hope you got what i meant i also wish i didnt have carpal tunnel haha

  • ....[2].........that one probably more designed for more low-end torque isntead of high end torque 6speedmanual, and a lighweight body, highend is where its at

  • its not 100%the same, true, but its basically the same.

ahh, so the 4x4 trucks have to do special stuff like maybe motor mounts? I wonder, then that might mean the 4x4 system is signifigantly different from the frontier to the titan?

anyway, in your truck, id put the q45s engine in because that engine is meant to be ratted on and powerful, the bigger version the vk56de.......... [2]
