thanks Greg-the Geechie are people who live on islands off Georgia and are thought to be descended from runaway slaves pre civil war era.If you look on google earth at the area its very swampy and tidal and would have been pretty inaccesible.Curiosly the Geechie speak witha sort of Jamaican patois.Blind Blake is thought to be Geechie as when he talks on his records he sometimes slips into patois.
