Everyone has to realise (especially Americans!) that Jamaican Patois is a language, and the language spoken by Jamaicans. If she were Russian and spoke broken English, would everyone be slamming her about her bad language?!?

Secondly, I find it hypocritical that Americans would tell Jamaicans to speak better English considering their 'English' is at best incorrect!

I totally agree with you. To be honest, I use to laugh at people who twang.I am talking about Jamaicans who live in the US. Now,I am school here in America and I notice, even when I slow down and seek in Jamaican English,some Americans don't understand, but the minute I use some of the American accent it is a totally different response and attitude.

Jamaica is influenced by America, we watch American TV channels not British. Even the clothes we wear comes from america. America is our dream country that we all want to visit.

MOST athletes are NOT articulate period!! One have to realize that athletes are viewed for their physical strength "NOTHING ELSE"....that's why they don't take exams to enter high schools or colleges, they are given scholarships or bought based on physical performance. They are simply "entertainers" on another level. Big up to all of them, everyone can't be scholars...

Can't believe people have to shutting others up regarding Veronica's accent or lack of, or just her speech in general. It ain't that serious. She's done a lot a traveling and she has assimilated into the culture somewhat. I've been here 12 years and some people can't tell i"m Jamaican until the second I approach someone whom I realize is from the island.
