  • Curious - is this "hunting" in the sense that it's just a day out practicing riding (akin to clay pigeon shooting) or was there an actual quarry pursued?

  • Bray Harriers are a Drag Hunt. Drag hunting is quite possibly the most fun you can have with your horse! It doesn't involve hunting an animal, instead the hounds follow an artificial scent - the drag - laid a few minutes earlier.

  • @Lagolop True, but have you ever seen the average jumping lesson for beginners? It's frightening-- they're super picky about the position, and yet it isn't correct, nor is it secure.

I agree; I hate seeing mouths being ripped on.

  • @universalradio

Actually, that "picky seat" you are referring to is the most secure one to adopt when jumping and it's easiest on the horse too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking these ppl at all but look at the way they almost all get bounced around and yank the horse in the mouth as it jumps even over small obstacles. Just a comment.

  • haha at that ditch at the beginning i was just imagining going over with my horse - he would have FLEW over - i think he might be a bit too hot for hunting haha.

but i love that hunting is so un-competitive, and it doesnt matter if youre not the greatest rider in the world. god id love to give it a go!

  • Wow! What a workout!!!

  • @universalradio I hunt in Southern Alberta and the club here discourages kids from joining because most of them weren't able to keep up with the hunt in the past. I was 14 when I hunted in October and I was the youngest rider.

  • It's great - no fussing over 'correct' seats the way they ride here in Alberta. The "hunter" classes get kids in this picky little seat, but they come off if there's anything other than poles in front of them, they'd never be able to do this. It looks ungainly at times, but nobody falls off.

  • Great stuff again. Most enjoyable.

  • Until yesterday, I had no idea that there are these hunting videos on Youtube. Thank you so much for posting them. They are very enjoyable.

  • I've watched lots of fox hunting videos and your group has the best riders, you people really move and jump
