@XAlphaZEROX you do understand that it took him around 6 years prior to 78 to actually achieve the tone he had on VH 1 . . . and if you ask me, even from VH1-VHII his tone was different. Let alone comparing VH1 to 1984 . . . i mean they're similar in style, but thats 12 years of tweaking, just up til '84 . . . and now his tone's WAY different . . . super bassy in comparison

He's not really a tone chaser. His tone has been the same for who knows how long, he just put it in a more professional looking package. If you ask me, he's been at the same spot in terms of tone since day 1. His chops are the only thing changing.

He's Eddie fucking Van Halen, 30 years ago he was sending every single kid who owned a guitar to the woodshed because he created a sound nobody had even fathomed of hearing. He's a rock giant and he's in a league of very few guitarists, Dimebag, Rhoads, Hendrix, ect.
If he sounds or acts drunk you can fuck off because the bottom line is your a nobody on Youtube and he's Eddie Van Halen and can do whatever the fuck he pleases.
