This video was produced by a team of five college students participating in the FBI Honors Internship Program. The Federal Bureau of Investigation hosts a selected group of outstanding undergraduates and graduate students from universities across the United States each summer to participate in an intense program designed to give them an inside look at the FBI.

Interns get to participate in FBI projects and make real contributions to federal law enforcement and counter-terrorism investigations. If you are a college student and want to know what it takes to become an FBI Honors Intern, you can find all the details at www.fbijobs.gov.

  • I'm going to be a junior in high school next year. Would I be eligible to apply then or do I have to wait until college?

  • @Vesperwhisper You need to wait until you are enrolled in an accredited college or university.

  • Hello. How many interns does the local branch take in every application process?

  • @ttown122 Depends entirely on funding for the program. Sometimes each office gets to send just one intern, sometimes two or three, and sometimes none. Occasionally a large office will get more intern slots than some of the smaller offices, but it all depends on how much money is available to pay the interns that year.

  • Hi

I am confused about the program requirements- I am a graduating college senior who may or may not be returning to graduate school in the fall ( I have no way of knowing before then). I was told I was ineligible for the Honors Internship. I thought you only had to return to school for the Volunteer Internship. Also, where I have checked for the 2010 Honors Internship it says "graduating seniors do not need to return to school". Did this change happen in the last year? Thanks!

  • @sunlight232 I believe the requirement for Honors Internship students to return to school following the internship was removed last year. You DO have to be a full-time student at the time you apply, but it should be OK for you to graduate just before the internship starts.

  • For the Volunteer Internship Program, can you be in high school?

  • @lalagirl9012 It never hurts to apply for the internship. If your grades are good and you interview well and have a clean background you might get it. The only cost to apply is your time filling out forms!

As far as a professional career with the FBI after you graduate, don't sell yourself short because you study history. The professional work experience you get after college counts much more than what you studied in many cases. Try to find a position of responsibility and leadership.

  • @sy6494 You should call your local FBI office and speak to the applicant coordinator. In the worst case, you might have to fly back to the US for a day or two for interview / polygraph.
