@ginjaninja1988 In Sport Sambo there are various rules for competitions its very similiar to judo, but with more emphasis on joint locks, most notably leg locks. Combat Sambo however includes striking and kicking and has more militaristic approach. You should definitely go for Combat Sambo. Sport Sambo has some restrictions and it lacks striking.
@lordvivec87 Cheers! I will have to give Sambo a go then aswell; it looks really cool can't wait. Just one more question. I am not too knowledgable on Sambo but I understand there is sport Sambo and Combat Sambo. I assume if I want self defense I should go for Combat Sambo?? Or do I just not worry?
@benkins88 (Combat) Sambo and Systema also teach you to never go to the ground on the streets but they prepare you for the worst if it should happen, i took some Krav Maga courses, i sparred with the instructor and managed to get him to the ground, he was pretty much helpless there. I've had one occasion when i scissored one guy from the upper body. But the idea of going ground on the streets is not the brightest idea.
I used to learn Krav Maga and JiuJitsu but then I started Systema and it changed my whole life. I really want to try combat sambo also. Just a question, do the two styles mix reasonably well? I know you can apply Systema principles to other fighting systems but just a question.
