Noting that 45,000 women of reproductive age die each year from all causes, Tietze states, "It is inconceivable that so large a number as 5,000-10,000 are from one source."

I confess I knew the figure was totally false, and I suppose the others did too if they stopped to think of it. But in the morality of our revolution, it was a useful figure, widely accepted, so why go out of the way to correct it with honest statistics. I have to disagree with you on the 1% tiny minority vs minority point. The percentage that constitutes a tiny minority varies from thing to thing. If 1% of airplane flights resulted in a horrific airplane crash then it would be considered an empedemic and probably not describe as a tiny minority.

If 1% of pro-lifers were murderers (that'd be 1.5 million americans) they would have an enourmous impact and wouldn't be called a tiny minority, they'd be called a revolution.
