Thanks a lot sir.
-
the D/P x'mtr is used in flow measurement.
-
They are Rosemount model 1151 DP transmitters.
-
What transmitters are those?
Rosemounts?

Its called "Orfice plate" - it works on Bernoulli principle, but its NOT a Venturi nozzle. It helps to measure the flow rate, but does not create a Venturi effect. Sorry :(

Actually, this is not an orifice plate. If it were, you would see pressure taps located upstream and downstream (usually on the flanges). This is actually a venturi nozzle located inside the pipe, clamped into place between the flanges where you see the impulse lines entering. The shape of the venturi nozzle is not apparent unless you separate the flanges and remove the nozzle from the pipe.

How to determine if it is a liquid service or gas service base on tapping position of impulse line?

Liquid service: taps will be on bottom of pipe to keep bubbles out of impulse lines.
Gas service: taps will be on top to keep liquid droplets out of impulse lines.

I have seen actual field calibration of D/P x'mtr and they're using two hoses connected to high side and low side respectively. The water from liquid hand pump is reaching at the transmitter, is it normal? can't it damage the x'mtr?

@09185513717 Industrial DP transmitters can handle both gas and liquid fluids. The sensing diaphragms are made of stainless steel (or more corrosion-resistant metals in some applications).
