This is a very beautiful flowering aquatic plant. It is a floating plant that can quickly take over a body of water. It grow and multiplies geometrically (i.e. ever 7-10 days it doubles in area, 2, 4, 8, 16. 32, 64, 128 etc). So 2 acres can become 128 acres very quickly if not controlled. • You should NEVER release invasive plants into a creek or pond or lake. It doesn't matter if they won't survive the winter, they can produce seed and could come back strong in the spring. A terrible idea. How about if you absolutely have to use them in your garden, when you're through with them, add them to your compost or let them dry out then throw away in the trash.

  • @nicofish1000 I used them in the summer in my pond. when they overgrow i figure release them in the creek near me since they die in the winter. they dont have a chance it get really cold here. those i left in my pond when i close it, die and didn't come back. i just figure food for some near by duck. but about the bucket it would look nice, but i dont have anymore i have to re-bye them on e-bay. they die every fall.

  • @MEGABOINK65 why dont you keep some indoors in a bucket? either way I dont think its a good Idea seeing how releasing them in the summer could cause seasonal problems apart from it being illegal. it would look nice tho

  • @nicofish1000 LOL i'am aware of the problem it could cause. but keep in mind those specific plants wont survive the winter. so it wont create a problem here where the weather changes . now in florida and all those warm places it will be a problem. out all the water plans i have, the hyacinth are the only one that wont survive

indoors when i take them in for next year. i wish they did. i have to buy them every year.

  • @MEGABOINK65 lol throw invasive species into streams. dont you think it would cause serious problems while its still alive?

  • Water Hyacinth cames from Brazil. I live in Brazil.

  • I bought 2 plant from ebay, and those Hyacinth took over my pond, just today i filled a bag full of Hyacinth from my pond and gave it to my nursery for his collection of turtles. i kept 4 plants. i know i know the cycle will start again. nextime i might dump it in the creek, since i'am in new jersey the winter will kill it.
