Amtrak's Downeaster glides past the Sutton St. crossing on
Jan. 25th, 2009 at 5:42 P.M. NPCU #90213 is on the front while a snow-plastered P42 #190 provides the power. NPCU #90220 has #90213's terrible horn, while #90213 has #90220's great K5LA. Enjoy! :)

  • I have heard 90213's horn lately when I'V been railfanning and it sounds like its losing its tune. And this was like three weeks ago from today.

  • @dcarpine28 It does sound better than it did before though.

  • Not sure why the horns were swapped, but in my previous videos, these two NPCU's had different horns. I'd rather have the F40 downgraded to baggage duty than be cut into scrap.

Either way it's good to know that Amtrak is keeping a part of the past. :-)

  • @trinityct Yea better than when it had #90220 present horn.

  • I always liked the F40's. Too bad the remaining that haven't been sold off or scrapped have been downgraded to baggage duty!

    Why were the horns swapped?
