The End Of The Portal 2 Countdown (kinda)

Video of me watching the finishing of the Portal 2 ARG countdown at work on Friday, April 15, 2011.

Of course, it was just a countdown to another countdown, in which players could allegedly force Portal 2 to release sooner by playing a variety of "Potato Pack" games on Steam.

I suppose Valve is getting a good laugh out of this.

But a lot of people who were awaiting the release of Portal 2 and watching the countdown are just a little peeved.

Consensus among my peers is that they feel led on by Valve with this little marketing scheme. Would have been better for Valve just to leave it alone rather than waving another carrot in their faces like they're dumb animals.

It's patronizing and not entertaining, and has lowered Valve's reputation as a publisher.
