I saw him live in Los Angeles 2 weeks ago..500 ppl howling like mad wolves at a concert..one of the most beautiful compositions ever made...I was blown away..it was one of those moments where I felt I was in a different planet..

Oh NO he cut off the part where he actually plays against the life wolf! Darn, ruins the whole thing -
-
The wolf in the beginning is recorded, the one near the end he is actually playing his saxophone with.
-
@wscott1950 The end is the wolf and the sax but the wolf finally makes a cry the saxaphone cannot imitate.
-
@102markmawurds It is the wolf in the beginning.... Met Paul Winter and heard the story of the making of the album Common Ground.
-
@102markmawurds The sound at the beginning is a recording of an actual wolf. Paul Winter used that howl as the foundation for the remainder of the composition. He used the same technique for a number of his works.

Had this album back in my hippie years. Something brought my mind back to it. Just a shame it cuts off
-
@102markmawurds no, its real wolf

Real wolf.....saw Paul live in Boulder years ago, had real wolf onstage and did howl in key of D flat, as well as humpback whale recording and African eagle, all in D flat..... beautiful

@102markmawurds The wolf sounds are true recordings...just listened to an interview on WPKN-89.5 FM with Paul Winter.

Scary
@danni13371 - is the wolf sound at the beginning the saxophone? or just a recording?

@102markmawurds
I'm actually not totally sure. All I know is that the sound at from 0:56 onward is a saxophone.

Excellent Work!!! I love Yanni but my first New Age album that I listened was from Paul Winter. I recommend you: "Paul Winter: Voices of a Planet".

You're welcome. I'm just tired of the scratches, when the piano plays.
