@grettagrids You can get Lupus at any age. Some children are born with it, and present symptoms right after birth. Take her to a Rheumotologist, not a primary doctor. Primary doctors don't have the special tubes needed to test for Lupus.

I got Lupus when I was 16 years old. Symptoms presented as a 107 degree temperature, organs failing, blood counts reaching near 0, and only responding to Prednisone. It took a year after I was hospitalized with the temperature for them to finally determine that I have Lupus. I'm currently 20, and have been in clinical remission for 6 months. Feels great, however, knowing that when I first got Lupus I had a 107 degree temperature scares the sh*t out of me for when I come out of remission.

I have lupus SLE and my 8 yr old niece has the same starting symptoms I had for yrs before my dignosis. Possible she can have it so early?? She has the rashes,fevers, severe joint pains that cause her to cry. I can't seem to convince her docor!

It's a hard thing to go through especially alone. While I am fortunate to not have Lupus. Two of my family members battles with it every day my uncle and my sister
I love them very much and I'm doing all I can to help. not by just kind words or comments but by actually doing something about it. Let's find a cure people.. what are we waiting for?? people like Samantha need our help and support DONATE to Walk For Lupus Now.

Hi, i am a 40 year old that has have been living with lupus for 25 years now. I am glad to hear that you are doing well with it and sounds like you don't let it get to you .A lot of times i do because of the arthiritis in my hands that i have developed from it, raynauds, bone loss, etc.but i have been blessed with 2 beautiful kids (14 and 19) and a loving husband. keep up what you are doing, sharing your story and giving others hope.
