Sen. Chuck Grassley expressed his anger over AIG bonus payments. His comment aired yesterday on WMT radio in Iowa. The first thing that would make me feel a little bit better towards them if theyd follow the Japanese model and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say Im sorry, and then either do one of two things - resign, or go commit suicide, he said.

This video is from CNNs American Morning, broadcast Mar. 17, 2009.

  • I'm with Mr. Grassley

  • I with Mr. Grassy Good idea

  • The people that Sen Grassley should be asking to resign (or commit suicide) are his peers and himself. The government should have made it a condition of getting money that they wouldn't spend it on bonuses. Every decent contract has a force majeure clause that would get AIG out of having to pay bonuses if the government made it illegal beforehand! Now the idiots are going after completely legal business transactions. Watch out, they're coming for you next!

  • it would great to see you crash your new car into another AIG exec.

  • not in your life time, sweet cheeks. i just bought a new porsche 911 with my bonus. i will be rock and rollin' this summer with it.

  • In Japan bank executives apologised for failing, in the US and UK, they get a big pay out and go off into the sunset with a smug grin.

Also, have you noticed how auto workers contracts can be changed at a moment's noticed, yet the wealthy bankers are protected by the law?

One law for us, another for our ruling elites.

  • Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Cedar Rapids is RIPPING its tax payers off! The City Council NEEDS TO APOLOGIZE but I don't want them to kill themselves.

  • go commit suicide u bastard.

  • I hear the point about the contracts -- but if it had not been for this taxpayer bailout, these jokers would not even have JOBS right now.

  • you all need to step back and take a deep breath. This is class warfare plain and simple. Dont fall for it. This is a smoke screen so you wont pay attention to the other 64 billion dollars that AIG sent OUTSIDE OF THIS COUNTRY. The 167 million is like a dime out of $100 to focus on the meaningless. Dont ask about the 167 million in bonus money, Ask where ALL OF THE OTHER MONEY WENT. AIG IS A MONEY LAUNDERING SCAPEGOAT. The look it up and dont listen to all the shit on TV.
