New telecom technology enables National Green Strategy for all utilities while providing up to 400 Mb/s over the existing copper infrastructure. Using 3 widely deployed standards and costing less than 10% that of optical fibre to install, DSL Rings can cost effectively bring the Internet to rural areas as well as urban centres.
To be part of a Nationwide Green Plan, a candidate technology has to economically apply to the entire Nation, not just the cities. Utilities need the communications network to be solid to implement time of day-based billing to incentivize consumers to reduce their peak demands.
