Did you ever take any temperature readings while doing this? I am determined to perfect this and hoping a scientific process of monitoring temperatures will produce a good method.

@stbrianofminneapolis Nope no temp readings.Scientific approach will be great however there are going to be allot of variables. different plastic will require diff temps. also some plastics are going to have a threshold where you have to heat them to much for them to take the dye. So you get the dye to take but warp the plastic in the process. this happened to me with animated plastic

I can feel your pain. I attempted to dye a G1 Weirdwolf body, but was having no luck... I was letting it sit in a warm water/dye mixture for a while; trying to avoid the fate that finally befell him (and your Prime here)... However, after a while I heated it up; but let the water/dye mixture get too hot.... Of course, that's what ended up warping the pieces... Nothing lined up anymore!
That was a true failure, but I still have the Headmaster meter for some future project... :)

@Methusalen I have killed 3 figures with dying i think i am done LOL. I have only had one true success that was with a g1 starscream.

whoooa - you mean the DYE WARPED IT THAT MUCH?!? Damn. this helps and frightens me more now because I have just gotten a Classics Megatron, for cheap, and am dying to make it a lot less fruity colored nerf gun-like.
