DOROTHEA QUARRY IS A FEW SLATE QUARRIES IN NORTH WALES THAT WERE MINED TOGETHER MANY YEARS AGO UNTIL THE 60'S WHEN IT FLOODED. IT'S NOW THE BEST INLAND SITE IN THE UK FOR SCUBA DIVING TO ALL LEVELS

  • Hey, who shifted that crane ey? ey? - it was at 21 metres I think (I'd havta check my dive log about 1996 tho). Dorothea is a great place to dive when the sea is too rough. theres a good sketch online, just type in Dorothea Quarry in 'images' search.

That 90 metre depth nearly caught me out once. Trying for a max 50m but checked my gauge an it showed 68m! with plenty blackness still below me. Be safe guys, have fun.

  • @WiresAnSteel , when i first dived it in 1990 the crane and boom were all in tact at 33mtrs, ( i just checked my log) and it stood 10mtrs, it was moved about 10 - 15 yrs ago.

  • dived here a few times, not been there for 4 years now, whats it like now to get in - do the local residents phone the police - do you still have to go past the houses or is there another way in

  • It's alot easier to get in now, you can drive in from the Talysarn side or the Nanttlle side, there is a concerete slope down to the waters edge. And the locals dont fone the police. Get on down there and enjoy.

  • very cool dive safe xxxx

  • Thanks for you're comment, we always dive safe as poss.
