i appreciate the discussion, but your tone is more aggressive than it needs to be. You are totally right when you make a point about top placements. But you must also take into account that the top-top-top players are way and way better than these players. If you look at how tiers affect the highest level play, they matter everything. But in moderate and tournament play, tiers are less important than the other factors.

And to add to that, of course anyone can win with any character. But no one who uses Zelda or Bowser or Yoshi will ever be the best. Ever notice how pretty much every important tournament has been won by a Fox, Falco, Sheik, Marth, or Peach player?

Lol, no, tiers are based on how good a character is. Zelda is at the bottom because she sucks. She has few good moves, she's slow, her short hop sucks, her fast fall sucks, her recovery is awkward and slow, etc.

I'm sorry, but this Zelda almost beat a top CF.
Tiers are existant, but they just reflect tournament results. So if more people play Zelda, zelda will almost certainly rise in the tier list.
The metagame now is overflooded with spaceanimals and marths, partialle explaining their high placement.
My point here is: tiers show which characters are best on paper and have the best tournament results, but that doesnt mean characters low on both these classes cant win.

speed and tiers does change the outcome. thats like zelda playing a speedy character like FOX and Zelda the slowest character in the game, hmmm i wonder whos going to win that. this game is way too tier based like MvC2 thats why i hate this game. At least old smash EVERY character is good.

Speed and Tiers have nothing to do with why Zelda lost that one. And the spacing was not godly. Zelda didn't get a sweetspot kick until 1min into the match. Too many lunges with the kick put Zelda in Shield grab range to combos. Captain Jacks Zelda still has best spacing and mindgames.
