What begun as an inspiring peaceful protest by indigenous people and the broome community to block woodside workers from continuing the destruction of james price point (Walmadan),escalated into an aggresive scene by the afternoon. On the morning of the 5th of July 2011 woodside pressured the police into assisting them to carry out their 'lawful' duties, to clear pristine wilderness land in endangered bilby habitat, along the Lurujarri Heritage trail and within culturally sacred sites (burial grounds), without consent from traditional owners, permits or approvals from the government. The Protesters held their peaceful stance till the final moment even though the police used alot of force on them , at times literally carrying and draging old women and men, indigenous and non-indigenous from the disgusting scene. Surprisingly nobody was seriously hurt although all up their were 25 arrests of submissive passionate pleading people. In the end woodsides insistant bullying techniques (including pushing people with their cars again), and the governments expensive efforts to move on a placid bunch of protesters was harsh enough to cause a moments chaos with woodside chose to break through the protesters nearly running a camera man/protester in the process. Woodside and the Australian government have alot to answer for... Shame on you!

  • Another class example of the Australian government getting it wrong. I really don't think 'SORRY' from a random prime minister in 50 years time will fix this big mistake, but I'm sure in 2061 they'll give it a try!

I am embarrassed to be an Australian when something as beautiful as Broome has been allowed to be distroyed by industry.

  • Thank you Missy Higgins for bringing this shameful act to our attention.

  • @RichardCuzz

    you're gay lol

  • aboriginals should really have rights and be encouraged to stay on their own land... they really dont integrate into western society at all... we have seen it fail. They would be better off living the primitive life. And australia is such a beautiful country we have to find the right mix of development and keeping it green. best country in the world by far

  • its a very sad day when our own valuable police force has to be used against our own people to further the aims of foriegn multinationals. Our land abounds in natures gifts of beauty rich & rare & Its bloody unAustralian not to stand up & care!

  • gayyyyyy

  • fricken man handling and old cogger disgusting behaviour by the POLICE!!!!

  • @bigbadburley5 I was there and saw the police pushing over women and elderly people with a smile on their face. All work has had to stop pending investigation by the D.I.A into destruction of cultural land, so the police were aiding an illegal activity, the matter is sullied enough.

What's more, I wasn't referring to much in the video, just my personal experience of the whole ordeal.

I saw the blood, you can't deny the truth of my own eyes to your interpretation of a 5 minute video.
