World War II produced some of the most exotic and fearsome prop-driven fighter planes ever to soar across enemy skies. The Chance-Vought F4U Corsair served in the Pacific as a Naval, and Marine fighter, though it was also used by the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal New Zealand Air Force. It was considered by many Japanese pilots to be the best of America's combat fighters in the Pacific. The Corsair was so popular with American pilots that it quickly outstripped Chance-Vought's ability to produce it, and both Goodyear Tire and the Brewster corporation pitched in to help build them. The Navy claims the Corsair had an 11 to 1 kill ratio. The background music is Mozart's "Horn Concerto #2."
