  • An exceptional album - if only for that incredible title track. Probably his best song ever. Its certianly one of the greatest songs from the greatest era of rock/pop music. As far as I'm concerned its in the top 20 songs of all time - from any artist. The rest of this album is amazing too. Its best to listen to the whole thing straight through. This is not background music. Sit down and listen to it. This is a masterpiece.

  • One of his best, which is hard to say cos all his work is so thoughtful

  • @derfsanderson What a coincidence - I'm reading the same book! Such a great period for Bowie and Pop - especially Bowie. 'Low' and '"Heroes"' are both incredible. I don't know which I prefer - the "songs" on 'Low' are better than on '"Heroes"', but the latter's instrumentals are better. Some really beautiful stuff there.

Oh, and yeah - the 6-minute version of ""Heroes"" is definitely better than the single version. Its lengthy development is intrinsic to the impact of the song.

  • @wonderfield360 The guitar work on this album is amazing. One of Bowie's strengths was always picking great guitarists to work with, starting with Ronson.

  • @sonicsteev I think the single is just an edit of the album version. I'd love it if it twice as long.

  • ive only heard the single version of heroes

  • thanks man!

  • Drums through early eventide effects processor. Eno had a joystick to manipulate the sound and boom. Alot of this, actually the main parts are first takes. Bowie adds lyrics last.

Im halfway through a great book about Bowie and Iggy pop and the Berlin Trilogy. "Bowie in Berlin" I believe its called. Thanks for putting this up. Im going to be getting this on vinyl and cd asap

  • @riverdale999 Fripp and Eno also had a lot of real estate on this Berlin album.
