    I agree. And it's not often that I go against JD. What can ya say tho?...Gene Wilder perfectly walked that line of wonderfully whimsical and sadistically 'mad'. JD's Willy Wonka was just plain messed up. Though, I did hear that JD's version was closer to the book than Wilder. Not sure if that's true.

    Imagine a combination between Depp and Wilder versions of Wonka and add a dash of manic, sugar-like energy that makes him overly excited ALL the time. That's how messed up book Wonka was. :P

    What was left in JD's take is MUCH more consistent, though, that's why I like his version better. Also, JD's Wonka is weird as all hell, but it's actually Wilder's that is more messed up by being not merely antisocial but an apathetic jerk to... well... basically, *everyone*.
