http://www.guitarvibe.com reports on the Smithereens playing live in Austin at SXSW. Vocals a bit hard to get due to the sound distortion. Great drum solo at the end.
Thanks for sharing ZUrlocker! What a great band, i can't stop listening! Love this gitar sound! Brings back good memories... I first heard them on the alternative Amsterdam pirate radio station RVZ 95.5 in the 80's.
I first saw The Smithereens open for The BoDeans here in Kansas City in '86 and have been a fan ever since. I have only seen them a couple of other times since, as they don't make it out this way much. Would LOVE to see the band live again. I picked up the new live disc today and it sounds fantastic. This is one of my favorite Smithereens songs, but c'mon, how can you pick a favorite from their great catalogue?? Rock on ,guys!
Dennis Diken is an incredible drummer who really does not get the recognition and propes he deserves. I've seen the Smithereens in clubs, outdoors in huge ampitheaters and he definitely has the groove and the chops that ALWAYS gets any crowd going and behind the band.On this song he gets to stretch out at the end and show what kind of technique he has while still playing for the song. Also with all of the recent steady gigging the band are playing at a career level best. GO SEE THEM LIVE !
is there a better band than the smithereens? the answer is no. pound for pound, the pest rock bnd to ever come out of the united states. rocl on pat, jimmy, dennis and thrilla!
