The trade of Barry Beck to the Rangers from Colorado allowed the Islanders to pick up much need, excellent puck moving and powerplay specialist Mike McEwen from the Rockies.
Thank you Rangers, Mike was able to actually win a cup in his career because of that trade.
@joclance22 You must have no been paying attention to Denis Potvin, he was the hardest hitter and arguably the best hip checker in the history of the NHL.
Beck had his career pretty much ended by a 19 year old kid named Patrick Flatley.
I saw Beck play in his prime and I must say, nobody hit with as much destruction then and ever since to this day. I was thrilled when they traded for Beck after his great rookie year with Colorado. Hickey, McEwen, Deblois, Sheehan and one other player for Beck. Great trade. He became an instant NYR favorite along with Fotiu. I do miss Bubba.
Beck was the epitome of an NHL policeman. Not a goon, but his mere presence would change the tempo of a shift. Loved watching Tochett hold on for dear life.
@ Intoxiqated. I know excactly what you mean Bro, Barry Beck has meant so much to me. I saw him play when I was young and it is something that i will always remember and treasure. Barry was a one of a kind player and person. great guy !
Holy shit, most of these hits are totally illegal. What a pussy.

Barry Beck was is and always will be a fucking beast! He's one of the reasons I love hockey. I wish I was born early enough to see him play live.
