SO...I WASN'T GOING TO UPLOAD THIS VIDEO , but I just figured why not. I thought maybe I could try and be productive and answer questions, but that didn't work.. and this is kind of what happened... After reviewing it, I have come to the conclusion that:

a.) my moms mac hates me (for I do not normally sound like such a "bro") lol

b.) that I have REALLY BAD ADHD! swivel chairs+sarah= 0 concentration.

c.) I will (in all likelihood) still encounter all of the same questions, and this really doesn't bother me, I think I just like to talk.

Anyway, please don't hate me for this video, it was really just for fun and I love to mess around. But the questions at the end are serious, and I would be more than grateful for your insight! :D

  • I don't believe schooling is necessary in your case, obviously you have what it takes already, now you just need to find a way in, you are well on your here as far as getting yourself put there, getting your music heard and noticed is the most important part of going somewhere with it, so just keep up the good work and don't pass up any opportunities

  • Answer to Q1: Get yourself a personal teacher who can provide you with the tools you need to improve whatever it is that you want to get better at! ;)

Plus, you don't need to spend $60000/year... In Portugal, for example, you can become a really great musician in ESMAE, which costs around $1000/year! Google it! ;)

  • Response to Q2: How connected to EVERY musician in your area are you? Or are you a recluse like me, holled up in your home all day musing to the walls of your room. If you know everyone in your area, are unsatisfied with the talent or reliability and you feel inclined, go ahead and move. If you want it to be a one woman show, stay where you are, get a job and fund your own project. The job is key. The further you go into your own project the more expensive it will get. Trust me.

  • Response to Q1: Tons of Music Institute students graduate with proficency in theory and how to play like John Petrucci. Only problem is none (whom I have met) can write their own material. Music programs at universities are expensive and will have you spending days on end analyzing Mozart scores. It's more debt than employability. You can be intelligent/educated in any area just by reading a lot. You just need to crave and actively persue knowledge non-stop while fueling personal creativity

  • Dude! Get a couple fellas to play with you a make a band!! I would love to buy a CD from a band with you in it! Oh...

And All Shall Perish IS awesome!

  • Continued...

Your career will find you; maybe in a bigger city I'd guess, as you suggested. As someone else mentioned, lessons or a book to teach yourself will progress you all you need. Focussing on writing is an excellent idea. Now, enough of the crap; marry me.

  • Straight to the point. Why learn when you can 'do'. To elaborate: you'd be spending a shitload of money, enduring learning that is frankly nonessential to your particular craft/direction.

The most beneficial thing someone can get out of it is contacts in the music industry and the ability to easily found by those in the industry. Let's not beat around the bush here; you are a female guitarist with talent. You are a rarity and a novelty, no matter how much you don't want it to be the case. Your

  • i have a request. hourglass by llamb of god?

  • Go to school for one year; you'll know then. Trust me.

Also, unless you major in a particular style, you will come out of it a pretentious jazz loving drone.
