Why did he a "navy cross" and not "medal of honor" that's racist.. At least he's getting a vessel named after him

I worked with and joined the Marine Corps the same time as Peralta. He was a absolutely great man. No matter what medal is or is not awarded..he will always be a Giant to the Marines and Service members he served with. Semper Fi.

Hollywood's doing a film based on the Second Battle of Fallujah, where this brave young man lost his life. I have many problems and dislikes of hollywood, but I do hope that the film makers depict this man's act of honor.
My hope is that this movie renews interest in the story of Sgt. Peralta, and that his story reaches a far wider audience than it has touched up until now. Hopefully President Obama can override the Secretary's decision. Give honor where honor is due.

There are countless people who immigrated here legally & illegally - the thought of why they would *want* to come to AMERICA should be the sole reason to give someone like Sgt. Peralta the Medal of Honor he deserves...he fought for his country and gave his life so his fellow soldiers could live - like countless other Medal winners. If Sec. Gates does not want to give this soldier this high honor b/c he came to America to fulfill his dreams - and did it anyway he could: BS, he was an American.

SGT PERALTA MOTIVATES ME.. EVEN THO I NEVER KNEW HIM..WHEN EVER I HAVE TO DEAL WITH MARINE CORPS BS I STOP AND THINK ABOUT MARINES THAT HAVE CAME BEFORE ME LIKE SGT PERALTA, I HONESTLY BELEIVE HE DESERVES MORE THAN WHAT HE WAS GIVEN IVE HEARD MANY STORIES ABOUT HIM HERE IN MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.. HIS SELFLESS SERVICE CONTINUES TO MOTIVATE MARINES HERE WITH 3D MARINES.. HE SET A GREAT EXAMPLE AND STILL HAVE HOPE THAT ONE DAY HE WILL RECEIVE MORE THAN WHAT HE WAS GIVEN, OORAH AND SEMPER FI!
