  • @lemurdue Did you know PETA has been running an animal shelter for a number of years? Their information is a matter of public record and they're required to release their data every year. They've been killing 97% of the animals they receive; only one in 300 make it out of their "shelter" alive. On Nathan Winograd's website, this is the fifth year he's been wondering why they haven't embraced the No Kill model (search for "The Butcher of Norfolk").

  • creates vacuum effect; but feral cats live on average less than 10 years, domesticated ferals have the lifespan of a domestic, roughly 15. Polly, an ex feral of mine, recently died at the age of 22, having lived with me since she was 6.

    On the whole, I admire what you do and wish there was a similar organisation in the UK. TNR does work, especially if the colonies have a caretaker watching out for signs of ill health.

  • Although I agree with the general message of TNR in this vid, there are some points on which I disagree, the main one being the statement that feral cats cannot be domesticated. It is my experience as both an owner and rescuer of ferals that they can, with time and patience learn to trust humans. I have one cat who was as wild as they come, rescued with a colony of 8. He is now a loveable rogue who purrs when I'm in the same room. Adopters have reported similar experiences. I know that TNA
