Massive Antarctic ice sheet collapses with global warming

A chunk of the Wilkins ice shelf 7 times the size of Manhattan began collapsing almost a month ago. Scientists say the melting of the shelf is another sign of global warming, as temperatures have risen dramatically in Antarctica over the last 50 years. The collapse of the shelf is also a concern because it acts as a buttress for continental ice, which will erode more quickly and lead to rising sea level without the buffer.

The temperatures in Antartica have been FALLING for the last 40 years; which is the opposite to the Arctic. Really, its time the media stopped shovelling out this alarmist BULL.

Sea ice melting won't raise sea levels. Because sea ice floats on water, it displaces its weight already.

@ChristopherRDennis Every academy??? Really.. There are thousands of scientists world wide claiming the complete opposite. The only confirmation comes from models that are inherently flawed, ie they don't consider water vapor or realistic cloud cover within their models. The fact that climate science now receives more funding the ANY other science should answer your first line, and that not one of your predictions over the last 15 years has come to fruition shows the lie.

@Adirtybird Why is it that every scientific academy on the planet officially confirms anthropogenic (man-made) global warming and none do not and yet we still hear from yourself and people like you that somehow there are 'two sides' to this thing? There just isn't a tangible 'other side' to this story when you look to scientists (not others) for the answers. Read my first line a couple more times before doing anything, then look it up for yourself.

You who is so willing to look at manipulated data to try and discredit what all of the climatologists are saying, that CO2 is the direct cause of the global warming trends. You're going to wake up to this sooner or later. Either by looking at real data or in about 40 or 50 years when the northern ice cap is gone during the summer.
