A scientist creates a perfect version of himself.. an android that has the qualities which he feels he's lacking..

This episode is based on the short story "In His Image" by Charles Beaumont. The story was first published in Imagination (February, 1957).

(opening narration) What you have just witnessed could be the end of a particularly terrifying nightmare. It isn't - it's the beginning. Although Alan Talbot doesn't know it, he is about to enter a strange new world, too incredible to be real, too real to be a dream. It's called the Twilight Zone..

(closing narration) In a way, it can be said that Walter Ryder succeeded in his life's ambition, even though the man he created was, after all, himself. There may be easier ways to self-improvement, but sometimes it happens that the shortest distance between two points is a crooked line - through the Twilight Zone..

Grizzard gives a staggeringly good performance here. Walter is a great character -- and the last moment is truly superb. Girl: "Make a new man of you!" Grizzard: (Slightest pause.) "Thank you.!"

Wow, I was alittle kid the first time I saw this. When he peeled back his skin and exposed the electronic stuff I totaly freaked! had nightmares about it. brought back some wierd memories watching, thanks for posting.
