Ride along the White River Greenway in Indianapolis, Indiana on 9 February, 2009. This video is saved at double speed to be able to show most of the ride in the 10 minute limited time.
The Greenway starts in downtown Indianapolis in the White River State Park and follows along the White River through town and Riverside Park towards the Naval Armory. I love the suspension bridge that crosses over Fall Creek. There is a gate right after the railroad tracks that is a bit tricky to maneuver through on the bike. At 16th Street there is a crossing that can be dangerous when traffic is heavy since it's a blind corner from the left with the bridge.
Just days before this was taken, we were still buried under over a foot of snow and had been having sub zero/sub freezing weather for the better part of a month and a half. Below the falls at the dam, the river varied from frozen over to clear in patches, but pretty much above the dam the river is still frozen completely over.
I had my camera mounted on my handlebars with a flexible tripod and some of the road and trail were pretty bumpy so the camera jumps around a bit. There was a couple spots that had difficulties after the video was saved.

  • nice ride, but what type bike, i liked the area, looked cold, thanx for sharing

  • I was riding a 2005 Trek Navigator 50 (26" Comfort Bike I've hybridized) I was using a handlebar camera mount to take the video and I sped it up to be able to show as much of the trail as possible.

  • This trail is in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. It was very cold the day I rode, we'd had an extended period of below freezing weather and the river was frozen over in spots. This happened to be one of the first days warm enough for me to layer up the clothing and hop on the bike. Along the trail there were still spots with snow that hadn't melted completely.
