why would you waist the money on a custom kit, when dw and tama are better.

i got a decent deal, so it wasnt THAT expensive. i agree, DW kits do sound alot better. but lets face it, half of the reason of buying a custom kit is for the looks ;)

we used the darkhorse kick, on the whole album. and the toms for songs. but the yamaha toms sounded sweeeet so we ended up using those for most of it

@michael37SJC Idk man I have a Shine Kit and I got a good deal on it as well, BUT the only thing that DW does better are snares. Especially the SS snares those things KILL!!! but other than that I like my shine and I think your Darkhorse sounds better as well. I do agree with the look thing, aesthetics are VERY important especially in a live setting. Tama sucks at everything! sorry my opinion.

@iDrum2448 Actually Tama is not better than a custom, DW is though, but that also depends on what company you buy the custom from.

you need to position the mic on the snare right and a slight gate

u can use foam and wrap it around the handle of the mic, just be careful not to get up onto the top if its cardiod, because it will become an omni polar pattern and pick EVERYTHING up and cause problems. also placement and direction of the mic is a big thing too, and what mic you're using.

How do you cut down bleed on the snare mic?

I always pick up wayyyy too much of the cymbals with it.

Please, help?
