  • wow man great shot and air new zealand is a good airline and do they fly a non stop flight to heathrow or what cause then i think they would use the 747-400ER if its a non stop cause the 747-400 could not make that journey but nice video man

  • they fly it via L.A, after departing auckland; hence AKL>LAX>LHR

plus i think the route is too long to fly with any aircraft in the first place, it'd be like flying from sydney to heathrow, no commercial aircraft thats currently in production would make it:(

  • Yeah you're right.

It may soon be possible to fly London Heathrow to Sydney non-stop with the Airbus A350. Airbus have offered British Airways a version of the A350 that will manage this. However on the return trip Sydney to London Heathrow a stop will still be required owing to the way the wind affects aircraft flying in a westerly direction in the northern hemisphere!

  • yeah well i still dont think the a350 will even be able to fly that route if qantas is shaky about the 777LR why would they feel that this plane can do it all i say is that they just keep using there 747 and the a380 with stops in where ever

  • QANTAS would only go for the A350-1000 if Boeing fail to bring the 787-10 to market.

BA are currently considering a deal with Airbus for a special variant of the A350 known as the A350-900R (a decision will be made by the end of 2009). This aircraft may eventually be offered to other airlines but will allow BA to fly London-Sydney non-stop.

Airbus expects the A350 to be up to 8% more efficient than the 787 which is an advantage to them coming second similar to Boeing with the 777 vs A340.

  • Hi bigkevinpetrona,

Thanks for the comment. The aircraft in the video is ZK- NBV which is a Boeing 747-419 (MSN: 1180).

They make a stop over in LA before arriving at Heathrow!

  • well with the efficient part i dont think so i will have to see when it comes out if im still alive and still british airways are going to take a gamble with that well they can all i know i will not be on that flight and plus it will not even seat the same amount of passnegers the 777LR has 301pax the a350 is wider than than the 787 but smaller than 777.well i know airbus is trying to recover form the a340 and 777 thing but i dont think this one will be a hit i know the a380 is doing ok for now

  • I love the Boeing 747!

  • i know the distance yes but i know they can fly it with a 777-200LR but i know they will have headwinds either going to the destination or coming back.i know they will follow the jet stream or in other words the tail wind they will get and that helps conserve fuel and the only way is if they add the additional fuel tank in the 777LR but its possible to do that distance

  • Superb. 5*****
