The Whiteman Band's first electrical recording--and, no, the composer is not *that* Jose Padilla.

Even today, a favorite showcase piece for tenors--here Franklyn Baur joins Paul's band.

La musica delk pasodole Valencioa procede de la zarzuela "La Bien Amada" del maestro Jose Padilla, quien por encargo de la vedette aragonesa Mercedes Seros viene a trasformar en este pasodoble con letra de Juan Andres de Prada quien a su vez escribio el libreto de la zarzuela. Pero es Mistinguett (1925), la primera vedette del Molin Rouge quien, en frances, lo populariza.

A good record, and FAR from the first electrical Whiteman side. I just counted 67 sides recorded before Valencia, starting over a year before. Victor 19682, "Tell Me More!" was the first electrical side, recorded May 5, 1925.

Wow! Some great stuff! VALENCIA was a 1926 MGM Silent starring Mae Murray, Lloyd Hughes, Roy D'Arcy and Noah Beery. It is not a lost film. Buried some place in the Warner vault. Would love to see it some time. Get's an occasional live screening, but has never been shown on TCM so far.
