The Beatitudes
The sermon on the mount by Jesus Christ
Matthew 5:1-12

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

  • I wrote a note to the minister at church this morning, asking him if he wanted to debate me on the Truth. I ask "Why does the church today ignore Matthew 5?" This was my assignment in GA's in the Baptist Church to recite all of Matthew 5 to obtain two steps at the age of 11. The debates I saw on TV showed candidates ask about Matthew 5...Hillary, et all.

  • What do you try to say? My personal opinion is that I am not concern about church. I concern about Word of God and my life focus is towards to Jesus.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (November 6, All Saints' Sunday), this was our Gospel of the Day. May God bless all of those who have gone before us.

  • when others say hurtful things about your righteousness and your salvation, rejoice and KNOW that you are blessed, smile and thank Jesus. I know from experience its hard to do and it makes a person argumentative and confrontational, but that is not how God wants you to be. be a light for Jesus and help others find him by your example

  • Praise God we all need to focus on these TRUTHS and Pray GODs HOLY SPIRIT help us LIVE HIS WORDS!!!

  • that is beautiful! A MEN!
