Thank you for shareing and bringing awareness to the Austin community, you have done a great service to the land, the Beloved l trees who all have a Spirit and do not deserve to be killed in the name of Corperate greed.; Barton Springs would not be the same without these precious Trees. Thank you.

Thanks for this Brian. Really well done.. And great point below about the Festival of Lights... which is also sponsored by Corporations I believe... Is combined city/corporate sponsorship and its intrinsic danger going to be the next step for pard and the springs if we dont pay attention?

A million dollars a year is spent by the Parks and Rec Department to fund the annual Festival of Lights. That brings thousands of cars to Zilker Park, causing congestion and heavy CO2 build up for a secular festival that promotes corporate advertisers. This money would be better spent on nuturing the trees. Why does that festival get support from the City of Austin while it neglects the trees?
