Mexican Drug Wars - Welcome to Juarez

A pictorial essay on the current conflict in Mexico. The Mexican Drug War is an armed conflict taking place among rival drug cartels who fight for regional control, and between the drug cartels and the Mexican government, which seeks to reduce drug trafficking.

Over the past two weeks, hundreds of people have been gunned down in Mexico as drug violence continues to escalate. The surge in killings comes as President Felipe Calderon is ramping up efforts to win more public support for the drug war.

More than 23,000 people have died in drug-related violence since Calderon took office 3 1/2 years ago. Outbursts of gunfire are common. It seems that nowhere in the country is immune.

@eysofastrnjr I agree but lately, here in Mexico the law is used to protect the criminal instead of the inocent civillian. And I've also been thinking about the weapons for civillians. That would only make things more even and would give us a chance to defend ourselves...a myracle maybe.
