... Except for all the people who are currently handling it maturely? What about the ones who are monogamous but still immature? No matter how many people you're dating, somebody will end up dead or dumped eventually. The only way to avoid any risk of getting hurt is to never get emotionally invested in anything, ever. I'm really leery of the idea that there's One True Way of doing relationships, what with everyone not being exactly alike.

No one can be a "better person than they actually are". If someone wasn't capable of being that "better person", they couldn't do it. He's talking about EFFORT ... and relationships take more effort than anyone really wants to put into a 'home' situation where they're not getting paid in money. We need to know that the effort is worth it because the reward is GREATER than money, even though it's often hard to see this! Too often, looking back, we recognize the value of what we have lost!

Play the odds ! It may be true that there is someone that is most perfect for you. But, what are the odds that you will meet that "one" out of the 8 billion people on this planet? And if you do, what are the odds that you will recognize them as the "one"?  On the other hand (depending on your criteria ); there are a great many, probably millions, who are less than perfect......but acceptabley close to your ideal.

So go with the odds; play the million to one shot !

Just to clarify, I do think the price of admission idea is a wonderful idea for people to take on board! I just prefer to see it in the light of acceptance, as opposed to lies. I'm not lying to myself when I learn to be ok with my partner doing something that used to drive me mental...I'm actually just realising it doesn't matter and that it was perhaps my problem for letting something insignificant (like open-mouth chewing) bother me so much in the first place. Ya dig? Sweet. Doll out x

He is too nasty for me, too! Accepting people's flaws and learning to love them in spite of them or even love them FOR their stupid flaws is not lying! No two people are 100% compatible, ok, fine, but doesn't mean I'm settling and living a lie and pretending someone is my ONE when they're not!
