My favorite scene of the whole film.......The life of a tortured artist has never been explained any better.

This is the real american art, not that crap called holliwood

How the fuck did Scheider not win the Oscar for this role?
-
I adore this film - marvelous, gorgeous, melodious......with great acting, producing, editing, directing. Roy Scheider deserved the Oscar for this role - phenomenal acting. Other actors/actresses were brilliant too
1979 is one of my all time favorite years in film - All That Jazz, Alien, Rocky 2, Apocalypse Now, Moonraker, Mad Max, Kramer vs Kramer, The China Syndrome, The Brood, Tess, 1941 etc

@AgainstTheWind001 I was always wonder, does what this guy says in the movie to Gideon when he's in the hospital actually represent something that Dustin Hoffman said to Fosse? Interesting. I wonder if Hoffman gave Fosse as hard a time as he did some of the other folks he worked with?

My all time favorite movie! I absolutely agree with you: not only Scheider, but Fosse should have won an Oscar for this masterpiece.
Scheider should have won a damned Oscar for this role.

Davis Newman: This chick, man, without the benefit of dying herself, has broken down the process of death into five stages: anger, denial, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Sounds like a Jewish law firm. "Good morning, Angerdenialbargainingdepressionacceptance!"
.............. There's all this bullshit about death with dignity. You know what death with dignity is, man? You don't drool.
