http://www.blockcenter.com/ADD_ADHD/A... The symptoms of allergy are most often thought to be runny nose, watery, itchy eyes and sneezing. However, the allergy cells, called mast cells, are found through out the body, including the lungs, the skin, the bladder, the muscles and the brain. This is why each of these body areas can be affected when exposed to certain allergens. One person may get a runny nose, while another gets asthma, and still another gets hyperactivity or learning problems. Studies have found that children with allergies perform less successfully in school than those who do not have allergies. By skin testing one allergen at a time, as is done at The Block Center, the patient and the doctor can tell exactly what part of the body is affected and in which symptoms are caused by each allergen. When the allergens are identified, a treatment plan can then be determined.
