hey im in edmonton, thinking of making this trip alone, how rough is the water, any caution points at all? im in a pretty stable kayak, but would like a heads up if need be. hope to hear from you. thanks. p.s. camping permitted anywhere along the banks?

This was a very fun trip with no rough water when we did it in July 2007. We put in at Drayton Valley, and camped on islands along the 175 km to Edmonton. The weather had been fantastic, so the driftwood we gathered on those islands was bone-dry, making great bonfires. No issues re: camping. Highly recommended trip, although next time I would put in at Rocky Mountain House (or even Nordegg!) to see some white water. In any case, you'll have a great time. The swimming breaks are also fantastic.
