Here is a excellent running Ol' MAC 35 Chainsaw. I am beginning to understand the old saying, "They don't make em like the used to' after owning this saw. It ALWAYS Starts on the first pull. In this video, it started after sitting for 4 days... on the first pull. No Choke, just a primer pump or two. The lever will richen or lean out the high speed mixture. Everything works perfectly. I did a test cut, and it worked really nice. The chain speed is not like the newer saws, but I could not bog it down either... slow and steady. Nic Old Mac!

  • This one is a 1957, and it was easier than I thought to get running after sitting for 20+ years. I didn't even have to take the carb off- it must have been stored properly with no fuel. A new plug and some frech fuel/oil mix and it was running in an hour! I run these oldies rich so they might smoke a lot, but who cares, I don't use them for saws, they are more for show!

  • Well, I am not sure... It does not have a clutch that is visible, but it appears to stop at the engine idles down. Good question.. I'll find out more!

  • hey iv got on just like it were there no cover over the back of the chain or is yours just missing aswell

  • That's the way they came. My friend has one that his Dad purchased new and it's the same way! He has the original manual with his. Looks like they figured they didn't need a cover.

    #poopedpantsinexcitement

  • that looks nice N safe ;)

  • those old saws were heavy...they probably thought that the cover was extra weight.....put some more color back on yours and it will look great...

  • cut some freakin wood with it on a video!!!! i'd like to see that thing in action instead of just ideling!! looks pretty sweet though! i like old stuff like that

  • the chainsaw looks like the one from texas chainsaw massacre!!

  • You probably have reduction gearing between the crank and the sprocket, with a centrifugal clutch on the crank end. For safety, one would hope so.

You probably don't need near so much oil:fuel. When this saw was built, air-cooled 2-stroke oils were not so good, and maybe the mfgs were paranoid.

For 35 yrs now, I've run a group of chainsaws on 50:1 mix, with synthetic oil; one of them for 30+ now. Ports & mufflers stay clean, plugs ditto.

2-strokes warm up very slowly without engine load.

  • i want one like this

  • @galt57 would you sell me one

  • My dad used to have an old Clinton when I was a kid. He may still even have the old thing. It was old back in the 1960's. I remember it was a large saw. Your's runs like a charm. Nice one too.
