A trip on the Shannon/Erne Waterway with Bob and Janet Low, accompanied by Chris Daniels, news editor of Waterways World magazine, and his wife Carol.
The traditional narrow boat was supplied courtesy of Graham Thomas of Riversdale Barge Holidays in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.
The Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Canal consists of riverway, canals and open loughs joining the rivers Shannon and Erne. It is in one of the most scenic parts of Ireland and is a wildlife paradise for anyone who enjoys birdwatching, fishing or just plain relaxing.
There are picturesque towns and villages the length of the waterway with pubs and restaurants close to the moorings.
A tourist highlight is the 18 pub crawl in Belturbet, the final navigable stretch to the south.
The accompanying music is the harp piece 'Miss Hamilton' performed by the Comhaltas Tour Ensemble.
