@klkhf4 It's a bit late for an answer. But maybe someone is still interesting to hear it. If you look closer you see hydraulik cylinders. They are pushing/pulling against the hand rails.

I am afraid that bridges like this may become self-aware and take over the world from us humans.

4 SCORE AND 7 YEARS LATER, they crossed the bridge.

i feel sorry for london workers that walk to their job
Does anyone have any website that explains (in great detail, math, materials, etc...) the workings of this bridge?

@klkhf4 This Rolling Bridge was designed by Heatherwicks Studio some years ago, I dont think any technicality is published. This Bridge served no purpose of usage, but displayed a futuristic and artistic idea and possibility of rolling in/out a bridge. For those of you who kept posting sarcastic and supposedly witty comments, you are only displaying how high your IQ is. Dont embarass yourself.

more info please.
is this an art thing? Is it meant to be useful?
seems like I be tempted to try to run and jump across before waiting for that damn thing to unfold.
Does it require an operator on duty? or is that why it moves so slow?
anybody know?

it is an art! useful? why not. nah, you cant run across, since it is manually operated. it moves slowly because it is mechanical. satisfied with the answers?
