Tonight I just found out that Eddie Sauter wrote some music for this show. Sauter's approach to music is more avant garde than this theme...so he may have only written background stuff for the show...But themes are themes....you never know.
Sauter worked with Stant Gets in producing the unbelievably amazing soundtrack Mickey One, and Stan's studio classic Focus. Get them. There's nothing like Mickey One. It will never be dated. Not like this theme music which has a period vibe.

The Universal TV logo used on this series: 1975 logo. Season 1 had the 1975-76 jingle, while seasons 2-3 all had the 1976-78 music.

RIP Charlie Callas - will be missed.

This is the "Switch" theme I remember. I guess I was too young to remember the first one. It's awesome!

@filmidioten Robert Wagner was actually a fan of Eddie Albert's before they became costars. Sharon Gless came to the show as the last "contract player" signed by the studio. You're right... This should be on DVD.
Although the particular effects associated with these opening titles (the vertical lines moving around in differing colors, f'rinstance) would be copied by WOR-TV for their opening of "The 4 O'Clock Movie" beginning c.1977-78, with the backing music consisting of Neil Richardson's "The Riviera Affair" from 1970.

Great and interesting television program. Loved the theme song. Does anybody know what year this program premiered?

Yes. I think it was in 1975. The first season had a different theme (you can find it on youtube). What a terrific duo. In france they aired only 13 episodes but it's still in a lot of memorys...
