On this episode of the Produce Picker Podcast we take a look at a particularly exotic fruit, the Mangosteen.

Learn how to pick, open, and eat a Mangosteen.
This fruit is new to the U.S. so it might be hard to find but it's worth the effort.

  • I'm a little curious why those mangosteens don't have the flower shaped caps? When I get them that always have the caps.

  • @doyoulikewaffles360 I was shipped a box of these from California. Some had the tops but they were pretty ripe by the time I received them so many had lost the tops. It's hard to keep em fresh when they go from Thailand to California and then way over to the East Coast. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • I practically live on these things at the moment, I buy 5 Kilos for $3 USD. The shell shouldn't be too hard, I never use a knife to open them, just a soft squeeze with my hand is usually enough. If they are hard, there no good anymore. I don't see how they wouldn't be hard after being shipped OS. They are going to be ridiculous overpriced and horrid quality. Just eat what's local and abundant or come and visit me in Thailand :)

  • @Leonj24 Yes you are lukcy, you get them fresh. I will have to come visit so I can see the difference;) By the time they get here they've traveled quite a long time and have been irradiated so they aren't always in the best shape. Thanks for watching.
