Craig Jones, a janitor for Professional Maintenance, a cleaning contractor that serves the Cincinnati Textile Building, and a member the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) local 3, talks about his experiences working poor and decries minimum wage, saying it should instead be renamed livable wage and keep up with the costs of inflation. Craig was a key leader in the Cincinnati Justice for Janitors Campaign, a city-wide property service contract that doubled the income of nearly 1200 janitors. Since joining SEIU, Craig has made community organizing his second full-time job.

  • and obviously the "commonality of a skill" is a function of

(the intrinsic quality of the work itself)/(competitors (or fellows) at same quality of skill level)

  • @ambagoli21 and there ain't nutin you can do about it...

  • lol, that's some logic for ya... if we increase wages - then everyone's wage goes up! relatively things are gong to be the same. changing minimum wage doesnt do shit besides increase the money supply and devalue the individual dollar which irritates foreign debt holders who hold our debt valued in US dollars. the wage one earns is a function of two variables as follows:

(wage)=k*(commonality of skills provided by individual)*(demand for skill); where k is an arbitrary "wage constant".

  • Why stop at 100/hr lets make everyone millionares 1million/hr! zimbabwawe here we come!

  • Timothy- if raising wages across the board would mean higher profits, why don't employers just do it voluntarily? Any why stop at $7.25? why not make the minimum wage $100 an hour? maybe BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK?

  • Go, brother Go! We need more young men and women that think, and read, and speak outside-the-box like this young brother. When you raise wages across the board, you raise profits for businesses, for cities across the board. KEEP THINKING THIS WAY, YOU'RE THINKING STRAIGHT!!

  • it's not the same craig jones...

  • R.I.P.

  • I am so very proud to say that I know this young man. Craig Jones is an asset and inspiration to his generation. Craig, you're the best. Your friend in Cincy, Gayle Chapman
